Our Favourite Imagery of 2025
By Newfoundland & Labrador
As each year comes to a close, we like to look back and celebrate the moments that made it special. 2025 was full of breathtaking sights, unexpected adventures, and the usual everyday beauty our province, captured by locals and visitors alike. Here’s a collection of some of our favourite imagery from this past year.
Quiet Waters, Bright Shores
Ben Smith captured this serene moment where colourful buildings and a lone dory rest in the calm harbour of Newtown, showcasing the simple charm of Newfoundland and Labrador’s coastal life.
A Familiar Shape
Drifting along the coast, this iceberg looks a lot like home. Caught at just the right moment by our friend Steve Sheppard, it’s a reminder that here in Newfoundland and Labrador, even the icebergs have a way of fitting right in.
Drifting Through the Cove
With 29,000 kilometres of coastline, Newfoundland and Labrador has an abundance of ways to adventure on the water. Take this video by Darek Nakonieczny of a group of kayakers in the waters of Chance Cove as inspiration for your next adventure!
Fall Into the Wild
As the seasons shift, the valleys of this place light up in shades of gold and green. Ryan Malley captured the fjord of Gros Morne National Park in all it’s natural beauty.
Diving into the New Year
With the worlds largest population of humpback whales returning every year between the months of May-September, Newfoundland and Labrador is one of the most spectacular spots for whale watching. Devin March snapped this beautiful shot of a humpback whale breaching in the waters near Bauline South.
A Breath of Fresh Air
Ron Bettin took advantage of this simple moment that shows how everyday life in Newfoundland and Labrador unfolds alongside some of nature’s most extraordinary sights.
Saltbox Hills
Colourful saltbox houses dot the rocky shoreline of the community of Keels. Ariane Lechasseur captured the calm beauty of this coastal community in a shot that perfectly showcases its quiet charm.
Winter Wonderland
Photographer Ray Mackey was in the right place at the right time to capture the magic of the first winter snow in our capital city, as each colorful home peeks out from under a blanket of white.
Northern Horizons
Perched high above a fjord, @lherk_31 was able to show off the jaw-dropping beauty of the Torngat Mountains.
Right at the Water’s Edge
From above, Twillingate’s rugged coastline and harbour come into full view. Nicole Emberley snagged this shot of the community’s edge with a stunning bird’s-eye perspective.
Autumn From Above
St. John’s wears autumn best. Our friend Steve Thornhill captured how the capital city turns into a kaleidoscope of colour during the fall months.
