Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site protect Ediacaran fossils preserved in exquisite detail. The tilted and cleaved mudstone bedding planes along Mistaken Point's spectacular coastline contain some of the oldest, fossilized examples of complex multicellular life-forms found anywhere on Earth. Please check in at Edge of Avalon Interpretation Centre in Portugal Cove South. Access to view the fossils is by guided tour only. Book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
