Old Mail Road Trail - Parks Canada Gros Morne National Park
Cow HeadAn easy 1.5 – 2 hour, 2 km return walk between the sand dunes, forest, and campground at Shallow Bay. Trail leaves from the day use area, follows the old winter mail road along the edge of the campground and north to Slant's River. This path was once part of the only overland route up the Northern Peninsula. Every winter from 1882 to 1952, mailmen travelled it by dogsled to deliver mail along the coast.
