Grebe's Nest

Bell Island

Jan 1 - Dec 31

The Grebe's Cave was carved out in the 1960's by miners who became fishermen. The cave or tunnel as some people call it was blasted out and shored up with timbers by experienced miners who turned to fishing for a living. The cave connected to the second beach. It was ideal for the fishermen as the second beach was sandy with no large boulders/rocks making the launching of their fishing boats much easier and hospitable to the men. Today, its main use is for tourists who like to explore the cave.
