Learn about the history and purpose of the Noon Day Gun and then step back in time to fire a real cannon. The current Noon Day Gun at Signal Hill goes back to the late 19th century, where it was used for gunnery practice by the Newfoundland Royal Naval Reserve. Today, it can be found next to Cabot Tower, firing daily during the summer to signal the hour of Noon (midday) to St. John's below.

Book your immersive experience at the Visitor Centre. Schedule: Offered daily during the operating season. You must be at least 17 years old; youth between the ages of 17-18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants are required to meet at the Visitor Centre at 11:30 am for preparation and instructions.
