Saddle Island - A Journey into History at Red Bay National Historic Site
Explore the heart of the Red Bay Basque Whaling Station UNESCO World Heritage, the earliest, most complete and best preserved 16th-century Basque whaling site found anywhere in the world. Meet a Parks Canada guide at Saddle Island to soak up all the fascinating stories, history and facts of the Basques who lived and worked at Red Bay more than 400 years ago. This orientation and interpretation session will ensure you don't miss a thing during your Saddle Island experience!
Valid May 31 - Oct 1, 2021. Offer is included in the Parks Canada entry permit. Saddle Island is a short 5 minute ferry ride from the Red Bay National Historic Site visitor center. Ferry departures are hourly between 9 am - 4 pm, and ferry crossing fees are included in the Parks Canada entry permit. Offer may be adapted to respect provincial covid-19 health measures.
