Cupids
- The "American Man" stands at the pinnacle of Spectacle Head—a local landmark
- The climb is rewarded with birds'-eye views of Cupids Harbour and surrounding land and sea
- If the climb up looks daunting, a lower, gentler path circles the hill and takes you to the water's edge beyond it
- Enjoy the views from the top—but take care!
Spectacle Head Trail
CupidsSpectacle Head dominates the northwest side of Cupids harbour. A 100 metre, somewhat rugged climb brings you to the “The American Man” – a stone cairn that has stood in one form or another, on the Head’s bald summit for generations. The view from here out to Conception Bay is spectacular. Those preferring a gentler outing can fork left after the path across the bog and follow a gentler trail behind Spectacle Head to the former site of the Cupids harbor lighthouse. Please use caution near cliffs.
