With 29,000 kilometres of coastline, including an abundance of breathtaking fjords, bays, guts, and inlets – not to mention the inland rivers, lakes, and ponds – Newfoundland and Labrador is a great spot for adventuring on the water.

Discover Kayaking & Rafting

Head out to sea in a kayak with a tour guide. Dip your paddle while watching breaching whales. Get as close as safely possible to towering icebergs on their journey down Iceberg Alley. Sea kayaking is the perfect way to explore waterfalls, abandoned fishing villages, and bird colonies.

The Exploits River is the largest and longest river in on the island of Newfoundland and offers a truly unforgettable rafting experience for beginners and experts. Your guide will help you work as a team to tame the rapids before you relax with a swim and lunch on a rock island. Overnight in cozy cottages and outdoor saltwater hot tub after a day on the river.

Experience Diving

For divers who come for the diverse marine life, a completely different kind of experience awaits. The meeting of the cool Labrador Current and the warm Gulf Stream creates an abundance of marine life that attracts thousands of whales, and provides rich nesting grounds for millions of seabirds. That, along with the clear and cool water, 10,000-year-old icebergs, and 500-year-old shipwreck history, makes this place a diver's paradise.

Snorkel alongside one of the thousands of humpbacks, or get up close to a giant iceberg drifting down Iceberg Alley on the northeast coast. There are an estimated 8,000 shipwrecks on the sea floor around Newfoundland and Labrador. Wreck diving in Conception Bay is offered by Ocean Quest Adventure of World War II shipwrecks that were torpedoed by German U-boats.
