A place for contemplating the important questions in life. Like,
Hey, did you hear that pin drop?

There's just something about a place where life itself is cloaked in a blanket of snow, that does something to quiet the soul and elevate the spirit. Where serenity can be found at below zero temperatures. And the air is served fresh and slightly chilled.

Despite the prevailing migratory path that carries most species down south, an enlightened few of our own species buck that trend, following a cold wind to the very antitheses of the over-planned, overpopulated amusement park.

They choose instead Newfoundland and Labrador, the very epitome of personal space – where there's a whole lot to do and even more space in which to do it. A hinterland setting that comes with its own northern light show – the aurora borealis (or the Northern Lights as you may know it) - that fills the night sky like a marquee sign.

Is it that peace and quiet can be their only travelling companions, snowmobiling or snowshoeing over wide open barrens and winding, wooded paths, delicately padded with 200 inches of snow? Or do they prefer to do their soul searching at high speeds on the slopes of Marble Mountain Ski Resort, a 1,600 foot adrenaline rush that comes with sixteen feet of the white stuff, some of the best skiing east of the Rockies and west of the Alps.

What about those who like to relax in a more urban, snow-free setting? They too find their place in Newfoundland and Labrador's majestic winter, amongst our historic bed and breakfasts and ocean view motels. Take in the sights and sounds of St. John's, wine and dine over a wonderful gourmet dinner, and attend one of our many winter festivals and events.

Whatever the motivation, this is how winter is served up here in Newfoundland and Labrador, exactly the way it should be. Every frosty inch is pure and raw and full of promise. There in all its glory, for the taking, whatever way you like it.
