Don’t forget to call ahead!

7 Jun 2012

While this place is certainly off the beaten path, lots of people want to find themselves here at the same time. To avoid any disappointment during your visit to Newfoundland and Labrador – particularly during peak summer months – be sure to call and secure your car, ferry and accommodation reservations ahead of time, just as you would if you were travelling anywhere around the world.

This is a beautiful, big province and there’s a lot to see. If you’re planning on taking some road trips, book your rental car in advance. It helps you out, and it also helps the car rental agencies better mange their customers’ demands ahead of time. Similarly, if you’re driving here in your own car, secure a place on the ferry as soon as you can. And keep in mind that if you don’t fancy driving yourself around once you get here, there are plenty of excellent tours to choose from, and in certain areas, you can see and do everything you might want to, just from walking or grabbing a cab.

The range of accommodation offered here in Newfoundland and Labrador is many and varied, but chances are you have a set idea of the kind of place you’d like to stay, so again, to avoid disappointment, decide in advance and make that booking!

The moral of the story is to always be prepared, because you should be worrying about more important things when you arrive here than how to travel and where to stay. Focus on what to do, what to see, what to eat, who to meet and how much dancing your feet can actually handle three nights in a row.
