Summer Road and Bridge Work in Gros Morne National Park

17 Jul 2014

Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador, July 17, 2014 – The travelling public is advised that significant road and bridge works are taking place in Gros Morne National Park throughout the course of the summer.

On Highway 430, the work involves: replacing guard rails and repaving 14 km of road surface from Wiltondale to Dicks Brook; realigning a one kilometre section of road around the curve at Deep Cove and stabilizing the hillside slope; and repairing the approaches, decks and railings on the bridges at Rocky Barachois, Millbrook, Bottom Brook and Baker’s Brook. On Highway 431, the approaches, deck and railings will be repaired on the bridge at Barter’s Brook.

Parks Canada has always made the safety of park visitors, residents and staff the top priority in its maintenance and recapitalization expenditures. While the improvements will be welcome when completed, Parks Canada apologises for any inconvenience that traffic interruptions and delays may cause as a result of the work. We thank travellers for their patience.

For up-to-date information on work locations and traffic flow, the public can visit:, or follow #GrosMorne, @ParkscanadaNL, or #NLtraffic.

Motorists are asked to please consider the safety of the people working on the roads, and drive with caution as you travel throughout Gros Morne National Park.

Highway 430 is a major infrastructure asset that connects commercial and residential traffic on the Northern Peninsula with southern Labrador and the Trans-Canada Highway.
