Winter is the perfect time to treat yourself to a day of pampering. St. John’s has award winning spas! In fact, Monastery Spa & Suites was just named one of the Top 50 Spas in Canada by Spas of America! Here within, our Notable Spas In The Capital:

1. Soothe Spa
Where old meets new. This is where heritage and modern come together for charm and comfort. Come in out of the cold for a hot cup of tea in the lovely and cozy reception at Bates Hill, their brand new location! Soothe offers private, relaxing spa rooms right in the centre of historic downtown St. John’s. They encourage you to take care of your health in all areas for a beautiful balance. They believe in the power of human touch and the value of quiet time to unwind. Their friendly, highly skilled service providers offer a wide range of spa services for everyone, and they even offer a pedicure that promises the Happiest Feet in St. John’s! Visit them here!

2. OceanQuest Spa
Ocean Quest Spa is located on the shores of Conception Bay South. The Spa started in 2011 with only 2 treatment rooms and 3 estheticians, and today it has flourished into a three story full service spa offering specialized skin care treatments and fireside manicures and pedicures overlooking the waters of conception bay. One of the most requested services is the Hot Stone Relaxation massage using basalt rocks which stimulate the circulation, relax the muscles and align the chakras. (Stay tuned as I have been invited to OceanQuest to personally try a Hot Stone massage!) Ocean Quest has a trained Dermalogica Skin Therapist with expertise in individual skin treatments. They are one of the few places here in the St. Johns area that has a Spa Group Room. They offer a beautiful cozy setting for groups of up to five! This room has its own fire place and they can provide pedicures, manicure, facials, massage and all of the body treatments in this space. For February they are offering a Valentines Chocolate Bliss Body Wrap - a must try! Ocean Quest prides themselves on a warm cozy environment and equally warm and inviting service. Visit them here!

3. Winterholme Heritage Inn & Spa
Winterholme is a 14,000 sq. ft. Queen Anne Style Mansion, National Historic Site that was built between 1905-1907. It opened as a Bed & Breakfast in 1993 with 12 guest suites and the spa was added in 2007. It started by taking over 1 guest suite for a 2 esthetician, 1 treatment room spa. Winterholme now has 8 guest suites and the spa has grown to take over the full 4000 sq. ft. 3rd floor! It has 4 full time and 1 part time esthetician with 5 treatment rooms. Winterholme offers Manicures and Pedicures, and even a Princess Mani and Pedi for girls between the ages of 5-15! They offer Color Couture as well as ZOYA polish which is a toxin-free, natural polish line. Winterholme’s facials are the only ones in Newfoundland that use the Decleor Paris Line and they are 1 of 5 exclusive spas using the MoroccanOil Body Line! With this there is an AMAZING scalp treatment that you can pair with a relaxing facial. On top of all this they offer waxing, massages and body treatments. Not sure which service to pick? 4. Monastery Spa & Suites
At Monastery Spa & Suites, they know their job is to be here for you so you can relax and escape. With that in mind, they pay attention to every little detail and cater every visit to your needs. A heritage building, the Holy Cross Monastery had its cornerstone laid on September 13th, 1931. Established not only to house the Irish Christian Brothers, but also to provide additional school accommodations, the Monastery was a welcomed addition to the church and the city of St. John’s. Seventy years later, in February 2001, Monastery Spa & Suites took over residence of the Holy Cross Monastery building with a staff of eight. Since then, they have continued to grow and eventually added twenty suites to become the first destination spa in Newfoundland and Labrador! With so many services to choose from, each visit could be a fresh escape. An Aveda Concept Spa, they have everything you need and, combined with their experienced staff, their facilities allow them to offer you a complete experience lasting an hour or two, or days!
