This difficult 1.7-km trail on Signal Hill from Cabot Tower to Lower Battery Road descends almost 500 feet over stairs, boardwalk and footpath. Incredible view of The Narrows.

11.5-km, 4-6 hour moderate hike between Cape Spear and Maddox Cove. From the easternmost point in North America the trail follows the coast southward. Attractions along the way include a World War II coastal defence battery, whales, seabirds, a bakeapple bog and the abandoned hamet of Staffordside.

The trail winds through the earliest settlement of Bay Roberts. Remains of rock walls, foundations, root cellars and grave sites. Picnic areas. Seasonal whale watching.

8.9-km trail from Quidi Vidi Village in St. John's to Logy Bay. Allow 3-5 hours. Moderate/difficult. Attractions include several river crossings, coastal scenery, ravens, World War II observation station, woodland walking, Ocean Sciences Centre.

7-km trail between Witless Bay and Mobile. Allow 2-3 hours. Easy. Attractions include beach-combing on pebble beaches, picnicking, whale and seabird watching.

La Manche Provincial Park
This very popular destination has several access point: 6.4-km from Tors Cove; 4km from St. Michael's; 2.7-km from Bauline East (all ECT); rough trail from end of La Manche Road; 1.25-km from La Manche Provincial Park.Trail through/from Bauline East includes steep climb. Main attraction is abandoned La Manche village access by restored 50 metre suspension bridge.

2.9-km trail in Aquaforte. Allow 1-3 hours (there are several alternate loops to choose from). Easy. Gentle family hiking. Attractions include former whale factory, waterfall, saltwater estuary. Watch out for rising tides that floor the seaside route at Soil Rock.

5.5-km trail between Ferryland and Aquaforte. Allow 2-3 hours. Easy/moderate. Attractions include Colony of Avalon, lighthouse, picnicking, cobble beach, waterfall.

3.7-km, 1 - 2 hour, easy to moderate hike between Blackhead and Cape Bay. Attractions en route include sea caves, whales, seabirds, a World War II dummy fort, the lightkeeper's garden and berry picking.

St. John's
A 540-km wilderness coastal hiking and walking trail that traces the eastern edge of the Avalon Peninsula from Topsail Beach to Trepassey passing directly through our capital city, St. John's. Entry points exist in all communities along the trail, 265-km of which is fully developed. Guidebooks and detailed map sets can be purchased from the association office or through the website. Family and life memberships are fully tax receipted and help develop and maintain the trail. Snowshoes and skis are frequently used on and around the trail paths throughout the winter.
