A glimpse into paradise

Why describe what you can experience for yourself.

Click on any of the images below to watch the video.

Hiking

You can learn so much about our province by simply going for a walk. With trails to suit every hiker’s taste, from multi-day adventure trails to leisurely, scenic strolls, hiking in Newfoundland and Labrador means traveling back in time—to a land without cell phones, fax machines or parking tickets. This video clip might explain better than we can- this view has to be seen to be understood.

St. John's

Lively and peaceful, sophisticated and homey, bustling and easygoing—St. John’s is a city of contradictions. It must either be a big city that thinks it’s small, or a small city that doesn’t realize how big it is. Full of things to do (like nature walks, boat tours or local nightlife) and see (such as the art, culture and music found on our sidewalks), St. John’s is the perfect destination for the traveler who wants it all.

Whales

This isn’t an opportunity that comes along often: the chance to get so close to whales in their natural habitat that you feel you could reach out and touch them. Find yourself a boat tour and marvel at the grace of such large creatures—the average humpback weighs as much as a house, but you wouldn’t know it from the way they leap from the water in their aquatic ballet. These creatures aren’t shy.

Fresh Air

Take in what you may not even know you’re missing: a gulp of fresh air. Escape from the smog, humidity and pollution and experience why less is more: less impurities mean more deep breaths, evening walks and laundry lines. This video clip can’t quite convey how invigorating even the smallest breath can be, but it’ll sure help.

Winter Activities

Here in Newfoundland and Labrador, our winters are famous—and for good reason. When you see the blankets of powder that stretch till the horizon, or the hills covered in pristine snow just begging to be enjoyed, you’ll understand it too. Whether you like to ski, snowboard, or snuggle up with some cocoa after a long day’s hike, check out this video to get a head start on your own winter wonderland.
