Heart's Content Cable Station Provincial Historic Site
Imagine... the colonies of British North America are meeting to discuss forming a new country called Canada but London's papers aren't reporting it. It'll take 10 days for the news to reach Europe by ship. That all changed in July 1866, when the first permanent telegraph cable connecting Europe and North America was hauled ashore at Heart's Content. Interpretation at this site tells a communications story of global significance.
