The Great Fogo Island Punt Race To There and Back
The world's only sea going rowing race in traditional punts. It's held on the third sat in Jul. The race is from Fogo Canal, Fogo Island to Change Islands and back, 10 kms of open ocean. There are categories for men and women. It's real a test of physical strength and endurance. The punts used in the race are locally crafted by generations of boat builders. The methods have been handed down 300 years by our forefathers whom we take a lot of pride in.
