The oldest known fossil bed of mountain trees that produced seeds, dating from 305 million years ago. The petrified trees lie on the creek bank just a few hundred metres from the highway.

Bleak House was built around 1826 for John Slade of Poole, England and was later owned by the Earle Family from 1897-1967. It is now registered as a Heritage Site.
