Oh the places you could go

Hundreds of little towns. Thousands of guts, coves, and bays. Every little place has its own charm, its own personality, and its own collection of colourful characters. Which will leave you with plenty of places to visit, big and small.

Take, for example, the sheer size of this place. It’s as big as Japan and more than three times the size of the Maritime Provinces. St. John’s – the capital – is closer to Greenland than to New York and closer to Ireland than to Chicago and it’s also the oldest city in North America. The province covers more than 400 000 square kilometres and the land ranges from barren rock to lush farmland to forest to fjord – organized into five regions to help you plan your journey.

And while you’re finding your way around this place, you might ask yourself, who were the curious souls who named places like Ha Ha Bay, Tickle Cove, and Happy Adventure? Or Joe Batt’s Arm, Jerry’s Nose or Heart’s Delight? Perhaps these are questions that can only be answered by a visit to the very source of inspiration.
